When it comes to tubeless metal clamp-in valves, there are a few different types to choose from. The most obvious is the clamp in type. This is a valve that fits into a rim hole, with a retaining nut either inside or outside the rim. They are available in a variety of lengths, sizes, and styles.
One of the more popular types is the snap in. These are easy to install and use, and work on many OE and aftermarket wheels. They are available in various sizes, from 1.25 to 2 inches. You can find them in one-piece and two-piece varieties. However, these may not be suitable for vehicles used for off-roading. A sturdier option should be chosen.
Another common type of tubeless valve is the vulcanized rubber one. These are essentially made in a single piece, and have a better seal than their plastic counterparts. However, they can get brittle over time. It is recommended to look for a sturdier metal version. Depending on your particular requirements, you can choose between a 0.5 or 0.625 inch rim hole.
Other options include the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) sensor. Originally manufactured in the United States and some Asian markets, the sensor is a vital part of the valve stem assembly. They are available in both the snap in and clamp in versions. In addition to the sensor itself, there are a few other parts to consider. Besides the TPMS, you will need a hex nut, a sealing nut, and a sealing ring. Also, you may want to consider buying a cap or sealing ring to prevent leaks. Finally, you should also consider using the right kind of lubricant. Using petroleum-based lubricants can cause problems in the long run.
As far as the tubeless metal clamp-in valves go, the TR416 is the best of the lot. Specifically, it is a high-end clamp-in valve that features a replaceable valve core, a grommet for the rim hole of your choice, and a spec-worthy torque. The valve has a rated air pressure of 200 psi, and is suitable for most passenger rim holes. While this might seem like a large amount of air, it is more than enough to keep your tires running smoothly.
On the other hand, the TR413 is not quite as flashy. Basically, it is just a tubeless metal clamp-in type valve that fits a 0.453 or 0.625 inch rim hole. For this reason, it is most useful for wheels with large passenger rim holes. Unlike its bigger brother, the TR413 is not rated for maximum air pressure. So, while it can hold your air, it might be wise to use a higher pressure if you plan to drive on the road. Among its lesser-known qualities is its ability to perform at higher temperatures. Generally, a temperature of about 140 degrees Fahrenheit is the optimum. But even the highest recommended temperature can cause some problems.
